Dick Cadd was born on February 15, 1924 in Redondo Beach, California, later growing up in Camas, Washington. In 1943, he entered the Navy and was a radar operator on the USS Tennessee. He was discharged in 1946. He is an alumnae of George Fox (then Pacific College). During his time as a student he served as the student body vice-president and was a member of the Four Flats Quartet. He became engaged to Helen Antrim during his sophomore year in college, as they were both active in the music department. The couple graduated from George Fox in 1949. Dick and Helen later served as missionaries in the Philippines, beginning their mission work under World Vision with the other members of the Four Flats in 1956. Many of their children and grandchildren also attended George Fox. The Cadd's were awarded Outstanding Alumni of the year in 1999. Their whole family was involved in music and missions, which they continued to share with George Fox throughout the years in the form of family concerts. Cadd passed away on October 3, 2005.
