Summary Before the turn of the nineteenth century, a Sunday school was started in a Grange Hall. It later moved to the local schoolhouse with the help of Florence Calkins. The congregation called itself West Chehalem Friends Church, a name that indicated its proximity to Chehalem Mountain near Newberg, Oregon.
