Historical note

Chehalem Center Monthly Meeting of Friends was established with 24 charter members on Feb. 24, 1894. Two years earlier, Eugene Hoskins and Herbert Cash started a Sunday School at the one-room schoolhouse. Meetings were held in the schoolhouse with various speakers until a church was built in 1907. The church celebrated its 75th anniversary on Feb. 23rd, 1969.
