Biography

Annis Peebles was a missionary worker who worked in Douglas and Kake Alaska. She was originally from Wichita Kansas. Annis often visited the homes of the Native people, and taught the elderly to read, from the primers, hymnbooks, and the Bible. She was also an active member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, teaching sobriety to youth and young adults. Peebles also directed the Sunday school in Douglas Alaska. In 1908 Peebles returned to Kansas where she engaged in the city mission ministry.
