Summary Around 1890, Friends and Methodists began ministering to the Native Americans--the Modocs and Klamath Indians--of southeastern Oregon, as the latter were placed under their care by President Grant. Much later, from around 1945-1966, Evert Tuning played a large role in ministering to the Native Americans in Sprague River, Oregon.
