Dr. Ralph Beebe was a Quaker historian who was associated with Newberg and George Fox College/University for many years. He was the author of several books that depict the history of Oregon Yearly Meeting and George College. Ralph Beebe was a strong pacifist, taking part in the Civil Rights movement and non-violent protests against the Vietnam war.

Beebe earned his PhD in history and education in 1972, after working on his degree for 10 years. Two years later he began teaching history at George Fox. In 1992 he began serving as the assistant director of the Center for Peace Learning. He retired from teaching at George Fox in 1997 after being a professor of history for 25 years. Upon his retirement the Board of Trustees awarded him Professor Emeritus of History status. He was well known throughout his time at Fox as a great teacher who truly cared about his students and their opinions. Twice he was chosen as one of 12 teachers selected for National Endowment for the Humanities fellowships. In 1986 he went to the Middle East to represent George Fox as part of a Christian College Consortium.

Ralph Beebe passed away on May 27, 2019 at the age of 87.
