Package for Smith Brothers black cough drops. The faces of the Smith brothers are pictured on the front, reading: "trademark. Active ingredient: anise and licorice in a sugar base. Net weight 1 1/16 ounces." The back reads: "Smith Brothers cough drops have been used since 1847 for temporary relief of coughs due to colds. The soothing ingredients also give relief for minor throat irritations due to dryness, smoking, speaking, etc. Smith Brothers cough drops can be used freely by adults or children. They do not contain narcotic drugs. Dissolve slowly in the mouth. Repeat as needed. If cough persists, see your physician. Made by Smith Brothers, Inc., Poughkeepsie, NY, USA."
