Historical note
Though Korean worship services were held in 1963 at Portland First Friends, it was not until May 2, 1965, that the first Korean service was held at a former Mennonite church, with 31 Koreans and 4 Americans attending. Pastor Kwan Kyu Kim, who headed the work, came from a Presbyterian church in North Korea, and graduated from George Fox College in 1960. Reverend Gerald W. Dillon first recommended Kim and his work to the Mission Board of Oregon Yearly Meeting. A continuously expanding congregation has necessitated several moves over the years.
