Historical note
Rose Valley Friends began as a Kelso meeting. Preston and Emma Mills held tent meetings in Kelso, Washington, and when a local family offered a living room for services, a Sunday school and church were formed. A chapel was built by May of 1925. In 1928, Walter and Gladys Cook became pastors there. A group asked to have services about 7 miles from town, and outgrew the Kelso congregation to the point that the pastor (then Oscar Brown) moved to Rose Valley in June of 1936. Rose Valley Church was built in the spring of 1939. In June of 1955, a committee from Portland Quarterly Meeting set up the Rose Valley Preparative Meeting as an independent monthly meeting.
