Historical note

The Oregon Land Company organized a Friends Colony in Scotts Mills, Oregon, in 1892. They began meeting in the home of Lewis Nordyke, and the Scotts Mills Monthly Meeting was established on June 7, 1894. John Henry Douglas served as the first pastor. A new building was dedicated on Apr. 1, 1894, replacing the meeeting place above the blacksmith shop. Records include photographs, newspaper clippings, minutes, membership records, publications, business and financial documents, legal documents (including "Liquor Clause"), brochures, written histories reports, and correspondence.
