Historical note
In Silverton, Oregon, an outpost Sunday school was held in 1949 at Silver Cliff School, but after it was sold, people in the area attended churches elsewhere. The opportunity for another church in the area came in 1957. The first services were held on the first Sunday of September of that year in the home of James Curnutt. July 7, 1957 marked the groundbreaking for a new church building. Pastor Charlotte L. Macy and Dorothy Barratt helped lead the church from its beginnings. In 1958, the first unit of the church won first place in the national competition for "Pioneer Churches."
