Historical note
Before the turn of the nineteenth century, a Sunday school was started in a Grange Hall. It later moved to the local schoolhouse with the help of Florence Calkins. The congregation called itself West Chehalem Friends Church, a name that indicated its proximity to Chehalem Mountain near Newberg, Oregon. In 1909, a church was built on land donated by George Christenson. Several additions were made in the years following, and a dedication was held on May 2, 1976 for a new sanctuary and fellowship hall.
