Minthorn Papers, 1900-1927
Scope and Contents
Minthorn traveled to Alaska as a physician and a teacher in the late 1800s. He also visited the Quaker Mission in Alaska giving enthusiastic reports to the Newberg Quaker Church. Minthorn was also the uncle of Herbert Hoover the 31st President of the United States. Copies of Henry J. Minthorn's letters, and copies of diary entries from his wife. Letters contain a mission land dispute between William Duncan, Henry S. Wellcome, and H. J. Minthorn versus the Federal government. The subject matter is beneficial for those who want to study both William Duncan and H. J. Minthorn.
