Biographical / Historical
The Newberg Agricultural Society was organized on February 4, 1882 to "...increase and diffuse knowledge among its members. To collect, condense, and collate information relative to the different branches of agriculture." (Constitution, Article 1). Jesse Edwards was elected chairman at the first meeting. Among its activities was sponsorship of an annual agricultural fair.
