Biographical Note
Everett H. Heacock spent two years as a student at Friends Pacific Academy (1902-03) and at Pacific College (1903-04), now George Fox University, Newberg, Oregon. His daughter, Erma Virginia Heacock Helm, was a student at Pacific University and the parent of an alumna. The long-time family association with the college and the Friends Church inspired Mr. Heacock's endowment for the construction of a new college dining room--the Heacock Commons--in 1965. Virginia Helm was active in her church and community, particularly in the Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU). She was a life-long member of Reedwood Friends Church, Portland. After retirement Mrs. Helm and her husband, Eldon, served as overseas missionaries in Guatemala, Kenya, Botswana, Dominican Republic, and Haiti. Mrs. Helm saved her own and her father's collection of memorabilia to contribute to this collection which was donated by her daughter.
