Historical note

A Sunday school had met at the community hall, as part of the American Sunday School Union. Later, in 1947, 8 acres next to the community hall were purchased for a church. Ethel Cowgill was the first pastor at the Agnew Friends Outpost. Other early pastors were Zenas Perisho and Harold Ankeny. In 1953, McKinley Avenue Friends Church took Agnew under its wing as a preparative meeting. Though it became an outpost again in 1958, the church continues today as the Peninsula Evangelical Friends Church.
