Peggy Senger Parsons Collection

 Collection — Container: MS-08-07-Box.1
Identifier: MS-08-06

Scope and Contents

This collection comprises the research materials and photographs that Quaker counselor and pastor Peggy Senger Parsons referred to as she wrote the biography of a twentieth-century woman Quaker minister and leader. The written biography titled, "Dream Handles: the life of Charlotte Macy," is included in the collection. Macy and her close friend Dorothy Barratt were the first pastors of Silverton (Oregon) Friends Church. Not only did they organize the meetings and study groups for the young church in 1957, the two women helped build the physical structure itself. Following their ten-year pastorate in Silverton, Macy and Barratt worked tirelessly to develop the Twin Rocks Camp at Rockaway Beach, Oregon, into a year-round conference center. The collection also includes anecdotal documents memorializing Charlotte Macy and Dorothy Barratt.
