Historical note
Camas Friends Church began in 1934 as a meeting in the Prune Hill School House, with the help of Mary Allen, Olive Terrell, and Frederick B. Baker. In 1937, part of the Prune Hill churchgoers met at Oak Park Grade School in Camas, Washington. When this was no longer convenient, they met in the home of Mary Allen, who eventually used her own money to fund a new church building, dedicated on June 26, 1938. George Palmer became the first pastor at Oak Park, while Frederick Baker remained at Prune Hill (but later became the Oak Park pastor). On Nov. 26, 1939, the monthly meeting was officially established. The church continues today under Pastor C. Weiss (as of 2011). Since the monthly meetings of Oak Park, Forest Home, and Prune Hill merged with the Camas Friends monthly meeting, all records are stored with Camas Friends Church records.
